Louis Dodds not going anywhere, says Shrewsbury Town boss Paul Hurst

Paul Hurst revealed it would be foolish to allow Louis Dodds to leave the football club after insisting no enquiries have been made.

Rumours of the No.10 being set to exit Montgomery Waters Meadow this summer were put to bed by Town's boss, who insisted the attacker was a big part of his Shrewsbury Town set-up.

Dodds smashed in 10 goals in his debut campaign last year and after missing out in the first two games of this season has started the previous two matches.

Hurst said: "He's played the last two games for me so I find it strange that the talk is out there.

"I want Louis Dodds at this football club."

The boss, like Dodds a childhood Sheffield Wednesday fan, shares a very close relationship with the ex-Port Vale man.

Hurst added that his door was always open for any player to discuss concerns, but revealed that no approaches had been made for the schemer's services.

"If a situation arises and there's something to talk about, Louis know me well enough that we'll have that conversation but he's a player that's got experience and is absolutely fantastic around the place," Hurst added.

"He's a good pro, scored goals for us last season, scored goals for Port Vale prior to that. He's been there and done it.

"It would be foolish if you didn't want someone like that around but what I do have is, I think, a very good relationship with him.

"If there's a conversation to be had somewhere along the line we'll have that but I haven't had a call enquiring about him I can assure him and anyone else of that."
