Graham Turner not surprised by Shrewsbury Town's super start
Graham Turner is not surprised by the flying start Shrewsbury Town have made to their League One campaign.
Two-time Town chief Turner was 'very impressed' after meeting boss Paul Hurst and believes the record-equalling start is reward for the hard work input of chairman Roland Wycherley.
Shrewsbury three league wins matched the club's Football League record from 2008/2009 and 1958/59. Town have never won their opening four games of a league campaign.
"I'm absolutely delighted for the club with the start they have made," Turner said.
"I've watched things very closely since Paul Hurst was taken over and I was very impressed when I met him at the Meadow.
"I'm not at all surprised he's got them off to such a good start."
Turner made 431 appearances for Town and was in the managerial hot-seat for two spells, between 1978 and 1984 and 2010 and 2014.
Shrewsbury can make club history with a win at Oxford United this Saturday, a game that begins a run of three trips on the road for Hurst's charges, including a Checkatrade Trophy clash at Coventry City and a clash at Gillingham.
Turner, 69, added: "I'm delighted for the chairman. He's worked so hard and I know how much this means to him.
"Hurst has them well organised defensively so they won't be worried about going away."
