Shrewsbury Town team reach futsal final
It might be the close season but Shrewsbury Town have some action to celebrate after reaching a national final in futsal.
Town made the final of the EFL Trust Futsal's League Two national finals.
Futsal is a slight variation of five-a-side where unlimited substitutions are permitted and the game is played on a hard court surface with a smaller ball with less bounce.
Town eventually lost 5-2 to Scunthorpe United in the final after beating Reading 2-1 in the semi-finals.
In the quarter-finals, Salop dispatched Southampton 6-4 with Liam Robinson scoring all six goals.
They scored six again in their must-win final group B game to progress to the knockout stages, thrashing Mansfeld 6-0.
Shrewsbury started with a 1-1 draw against Brentford before coming back from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 with Grimsby.
Town's squad was Brad Painter, Ed Baker, Leon Reece, Harry Morris, Liam Robinson, George Maskell and Kallum Gall.
Pete Wilson, coach for Shrewsbury Town, said: "We're very proud of the lads who they gave it their all on the day.
"It was their final game of futsal for us and they were all a pleasure to work with over the two years."
