'Big-game heads' on Shrewsbury Town
Manager Micky Mellon senses Shrewsbury Town have their 'big-game heads' on to match promotion certs Wigan tomorrow.
Town are seeking to make it 10 league games unbeaten while the second-placed Latics are looking to go 19 without defeat.
Boss Mellon said: "I'm really looking forward to it and I know the players are – you know there's a big game coming up, because you can feel it around the place.
"We've got to have nine, 10 players absolutely at it and we'll be encouraging the lads to have that mentality.
"It will be a great occasion and I'm expecting the fans to know we've got a good chance."
Mellon is confident Town won't buckle against the Latics – because they have Championship-standard players too.
He said: "I've gone through our team and I'm expecting them to give a very good account of themselves.
"We've got people like Jack (Grimmer) who are Championship players, so I'm not expecting him to lose his battle.
"Jack and Larnell Cole are at Championship clubs and Sullay Kaikai is with a Premier League club.
"They have to perform at those standards but I'm expecting them to go toe-to-toe and come out on top."
But the Salop chief sees Wigan as winning an automatic return to the Championship.
He said: "It would take a brave man to bet against them now from what I've seen.
"I saw them on Monday (when they beat Rochdale 1-0) and you enjoy watching them.
"People like Yanic Wildschut are very talented – that's what you get for £1m – and they've got good experience."
Meanwhile, Zak Whitbread is fit after a hamstring injury kept him out of the last four games.
He will compete with Dom Smith to replace captain Nathaniel Knight-Percival, who starts a three-match ban.
Elsewhere, Mellon insists James Wesolowski hasn't been 'saved' for tomorrow after being pulled out of Wednesday's reserve game against Port Vale.
The Town boss said: "I'm going to be honest and 100 per cent, he's not going to be involved. He's got a bit of work to do, but watch this space."
