VIDEO: Cameron Gayle rallies Shrewsbury
Defender Cameron Gayle is rallying Shrewsbury Town for an immediate response after they suffered last-minute heartbreak in a 1-1 draw with Cambridge.
So often the scorer of late goals, Town had the boot put on the other foot when substitute Sullay Kaikai bagged deep into stoppage time to secure a point for the U's.
Micky Mellon's side were unable to hold on after Bobby Grant had scored his third goal in two games. Salop travel to fellow promotion hopefuls Wycombe on Saturday.
"It was very disappointing not to win the Cambridge game," said Gayle. "I think we dominated for long spells and should have gone on to claim all three points.
"Now we have to respond by going and getting three points at Wycombe. We are only two points off the top, so if we can get three points at Wycombe it will put us in a great position going into the last 10 games.
"It's important we go there and get back to winning ways, because we are in the closing stages of the season."
Cambridge created chances but their goal came from a mistake by goalkeeper Jayson Leutwiler, who had earlier produced a number of fine saves during the entertaining encounter.
"Jayson made some great saves but we were the better side," the wing-back said. "Every team you play will create chances but I don't think they did enough to earn a point.
"We were the team on top and the one that deserved to win and we should have scored again and killed the game.
"We just have to take the positives, work hard and take what we have learnt into the Wycombe game."
On in-form midfielder Grant, Gayle added: "He is playing really well.
"He was out of the team a couple of weeks ago but was ready as soon as he came back in and is now getting in more shooting positions."
