Adrian Stanton’s side have notched up 13 goals in those four games, the latest coming in a 4-1 win over Shropshire rivals Wem, despite playing more than half the game with 10 men, lifted them to eighth.

New signing Luke Morris is leading the charge for AFC, his goal on Saturday made in eight in four games since the West Midlands Premier Division’s top scorer from last season joined from Wolverhampton Sporting Community.

Morris had an early penalty saved before Connor Leek’s cross was turned into Wem’s goal by a defender for the opener. Morris doubled the lead midway through the first half before Jake Lloyd’s fine volley made it three on half hour.

Lloyd was then dismissed after a skirmish but the Crown Meadow hosts forced another own goal on the hour to seal the points long before struggling Wem’s late consolation.

Assistant manager Dominic Heath, who oversaw the win, said: “We didn’t play well on Saturday but we’ve come into good form, especially at home.

“We’ve brought in Luke Morris who top scored with Bewdley last season and he’s been the difference in the last few games.

“We’re unbeaten in eight games and third in the form table in that time. We’re hard to beat now, Brett Taylor is on loan from Shrewsbury Town’s academy and is coming on leaps and bounds, winning everything. People like him and Matt Dean at right-back are taking us to the next level.”

Bridgnorth are also hoping to this week swoop for two more established hitmen to add to their impressive firepower.

No.2 Heath added: “We were aiming for top six and FA Cup football. We’ve got four or five games in hand and then play the top two and we’ll know where we are with the news lads in.”

Shifnal Town ended a run of five straight league defeats in style with a 7-2 thrashing of mid-table rivals Dudley Sports.

Mark Simpson’s side thrashed in four first half goals to set them away. Sam Wilde finished with a hat-trick while Lewis Mackenzie notched a brace. Jordan Bailey and Ryan Bright netted Town’s other goals as they leapfrogged their hosts into 12th.
