Cowan’s charges are heading to County Durham to face Pools on Saturday, January 12.

The hosts are the favourites as they are 13th in the National League, while Telford are eighth in National League North.

When asked if he is looking forward to the tie, Cowan said: “Absolutely.

“It’ll be a great experience for the lads, to test themselves against a good side, a former Football League club.

“We’ve got nothing to lose, have we? We’re really looking forward to it.”

It is another long journey for the Bucks – after travelling to Darlington twice, Spennymoor and Blyth already this season.

Hartlepool have Marcus Dinanga, who was Telford’s top scorer last term, and Cowan added: “He hasn’t had as much game time as he would’ve liked.

"But, if he plays, we know what he’s about. He’s one of a lot of good players in their squad.”
