Connor McCarthy rejoins AFC Telford

AFC Telford United have further bolstered their attack with the return of loan star Connor McCarthy – as released Danny Glover joined Hednesford Town.

McCarthy – greeted as 'the non-league Wayne Rooney' by boss Rob Smith before his three-month loan earlier in the season – has rejoined on loan from Southport to the end of the season.

He becomes the third striker signed by the Bucks in the last two weeks, after John Cofie and George Bowerman, and is available for tomorrow's visit of AFC Fylde.

He is the fifth senior forward on the books with Dave Hibbert and Ryan Rowe there, although Bowerman can also play wide.

But Telford have been short of goals all season and it's understood Smith has tried twice this month to get McCarthy back.

The player appeared as a late substitute on Tuesday night, when Southport lost 1-0 at home to Forest Green.

Telford have been looking at bolstering their defence with Curtis Tilt suspended for tomorrow.

But it looks as if they have run out of time to strengthen the back line, with midfielder Mike Grogan on standby to fill in.

Glover has joined the Pitmen after having his contract cancelled by mutual consent. He was caught playing Sunday League football.
