Woking sign Telford's Godfrey Poku
Tough-tackling midfielder Godfrey Poku has bid an emotional farewell to AFC Telford United after signing for Woking.
Poku, who joined the Bucks last July, became a cult figure for his fully-committed displays in the middle of the park despite the side's relegation from the Conference Premier.
The 24-year-old has signed a one-year-deal with the Cardinals having seen his contract at the New Bucks Head expire at the end of the season.
And Poku admits it was a tough decision to leave Steve Kittrick's side behind, saying: "I have got so much love for AFC Telford – I really enjoyed my time there.
"I'm from East London so moving to Woking helps me a lot because I was doing a lot of travelling. The fact they are in the Conference Premier as well makes it a win-win for me.
"It was a really tough decision because Telford offered me a good deal and I was happy there. But I had to think about the travelling and my girlfriend, who has just got a new job."
Despite his departure, Poku believes Telford will soon be back in the Conference Premier, with the midfielder tipping boss Kittrick to win promotion at the first attempt.
Poku said: "They have got a great chance of bouncing straight back up. I'm 100 per cent sure they will be competing at the right end of the table I wish them nothing but success."
Poku thanked Telford's fans after he was inundated with messages of support on social media when his move was confirmed, adding: "The fans have been amazing with me – they are a special bunch.
"They had every right to moan last season with some of the results but they always got behind us. They were brilliant with me and I always wanted to do my my best for them."
