Assistant and two more join AFC Telford

AFC Telford United have named Chris Holland as their new assistant manager - as two more signings joined the Bucks squad.

Holland, who turns 40 in September, worked with Bucks boss Steve Kittrick during a successful spell at Guiseley, where he led the Lions to the play-offs three times across six seasons.

And Kittrick was delighted to join forces with his former deputy, who has played for the likes of Newcastle United, Birmingham City and Huddersfield Town.

He said: "Chris's pedigree speaks for itself. You've only got to look at the clubs he has played for, he has a great reputation through the game.

"It has been about getting in the right people for the football club, on and off the field. He was a very good player, we worked together at Guiseley before he changed jobs and worked out of town.

"But I found out in recent months his shifts were changing and that he was available for football again. He knows how I work, it's a great move for the both of us.

"We seem to have been successful where we've worked before."

Telford have also brought in defender Ben Harrison and Shrewsbury-born goalkeeper Mason Springthorpe for next season's return to the Conference North.

Harrison, 24, joins the Bucks on non-contract forms from Nantwich Town. He's been a target of Kittrick's for some time and has been promised a longer deal when he plays regularly.

Springthorpe was a £125,000 signing for Premier League side Everton from Shrewsbury in 2011, but made his competitive debut on loan at non-league Woking.

The 20-year-old returned to Shropshire for a spell at Ellesmere Rangers before going back into the full-time game this year with Fleetwood Town, who have now released him.
