AFC Telford get Ian Craney until the end of the season
AFC Telford United manager Mark Cooper has delivered on his vow to strengthen the squad ahead of the weekend by signing Ian Craney.
But the Bucks have not extended the loan of Fleetwood Town midfielder Gerard Kinsella.
Midfield cohort Craney, aged 30, is Cooper's first signing and the player has joined on a deal until the end of the season.
The former Rochdale and Accrington Stanley man is expected to go straight into contention for a place in the team that will travel to Blue Square Premier leaders Grimsby Town on Saturday.
The new Telford chief, who replaced Andy Sinton at the end of last week, was determined to bring in new recruits.
Craney was a free agent following his departure from Rochdale last month and he has played more than 300 games for seven previous clubs.
He has also represented the England C team and will bring much-needed experience into the Bucks' ranks.
Cooper revealed after Saturday's 2-1 defeat against Cambridge United that he would speak to Kinsella about the possibility of extending his loan.
But he conceded any further deal would come down to finances and whether he would be able to bring in other players.
The 21-year-old arrived at the New Bucks Head at the start of January and made seven starts in that time.
