Andy Sinton is lost for words at AFC Telford red-card woe
AFC Telford boss Andy Sinton admitted he was dumbfounded after the Bucks saw red for the seventh time so far this season in Saturday's 0-0 draw away at Tamworth.
The Bucks had to play more than 45 minutes with 10 men at The Lamb Ground after their leading scorer Steve Jones was sent off late in the first half.
The striker was shown a straight red card for a lunge on Tamworth striker Greg Taylor three minutes before the end of the first half.
Sinton, who said he would review footage of the challenge, had seen six red cards handed out to players on his team in the previous 19 games (two cup, 17 league).
He said: "It was too far away for me to see but I will have a look at it. My initial reaction from 80 yards away was his foot was off the ground.
"It doesn't help. It has been a little bit the story of our season. I am dumbfounded by why it keeps happening because we sit down with the lads and we say 'don't try to win things you can't win, be patient in your defending, be disciplined in your defending.'"
But he was full of praise for the way the remaining 10 men defended for the rest of the game to earn a hard-fought point.
He reserved particular praise for goalkeeper Ryan Young, who was the Bucks' stand-out player in the game, as well as centre-back Dan Preston, who impressed in his first league start since returning from a four-match ban.
Meanwhile, striker Jake Reid has been sent out on loan to Redditch United to help him build up his fitness and marked his debut in style on Saturday by netting the winning goal against Kettering.
