AFC Telford handed revenge mission against Nuneaton
AFC Telford will play Nuneaton Town for the fourth time in less than three months after the teams were today paired together in the FA Trophy first round.
The Bucks will renew battle with their familiar foes on November 24 at the New Bucks Head.
The teams have already met once in the Blue Square Bet Premier League this season, with Kevin Wilkin's side winning 3-1 at Liberty Way in September.
And they also squared off twice last month in the FA Cup fourth qualifying round, with a 2-2 draw at the New Bucks Head followed by a 1-0 win for Nuneaton after extra-time.
The match will also re-united several current Telford players with their former team-mates again.
Nuneaton have five former Bucks – Kyle Perry, Andy Brown, Simon Forsdick, Jon Adams and Gavin Cowan – in their ranks, although Perry is currently on loan at Hereford United.
The match was one of 64 first round ties pulled out of the hat today with £5,000 up for grabs for the winners.
The final will take place at Wembley on March 24 and Bucks boss Andy Sinton has said he would love to lead his team to the final.
He said: "I wanted a long run in the FA Cup. I wanted to be one of the non-league clubs that got some national exposure. We didn't because we didn't beat Nuneaton.
"We go into the trophy. There's a magnificent stadium at the end of it to play at. I would love to take my team as far as that but it is a tough competition.
"Just like the FA Cup, I would love a long run in the Trophy and Telford has got a history in the competition in recent years. We would like to add to that."
The potential financial boost the competition presented is also an incentive for the club.
Meanwhile, Telford's Blue Square Bet Premier League trip to Hereford United next has been postponed because of The Bulls involvement in the FA Cup.
The game was set to take place on December 1 but will now take place at a later date, Bucks chairman Lee Carter has confirmed.
