Liam Chilvers a doubt for Tamworth trip

AFC Telford defender Liam Chilvers is a doubt for Saturday's trip to Tamworth after picking up a neck injury during last night's 2-2 draw at home to Ebbsfleet.

The former Notts County centre-back was replaced by Dan Preston after 27 minutes of the Blue Square Premier clash at the New Bucks Head and the problem will be assessed over the next few days.

Should he be ruled out, it will leave Telford with just two recognised centre-backs available in Preston and Jordan Rose, although right-back Will Salmon can also play in that position if required.

Boss Andy Sinton said: "He's got a neck problem which was affecting him heading the ball from about 15 minutes onwards.

"He's got to be a doubt for Saturday because he has come off the pitch after 20-odd minutes and Liam is the type of guy that would stay on if he could.

"He said he got it very early into the game and every time he headed the ball it was instant pain, so with necks and backs.

"You have got to be quite careful."

Sinton was also left frustrated by costly defensive errors as his side twice surrendered the lead against Ebbsfleet.

Nathan Elder was allowed to head home just a minute after Telford went in front and the second time he dispatched a penalty after two-goal scorer Steve Jones upended Ashley Carew in the box.

Jones also saw a penalty saved by visiting goalkeeper Preston Edwards in the final minute.

"For managers there were lots of good things but on the flip side of that lots of not-so-good things in defensive areas which contributed to the goals that were given away by both sides,"said Sinton.

"If I was (Ebbsfleet manager) Liam Daish I wouldn't be happy with the goals we have scored against them and I am certainly not happy with the goals we have given away.

"I am disappointed but we have just got to learn from our mistakes.

"We have got to be a little bit more reliable and a little bit more dependable right through the pitch."
