AFC Telford extend Liam Chilvers deal
Defender Liam Chilvers has extended his stay with AFC Telford until the end of the year.
Bucks manager Andy Sinton today confirmed the former Notts County centre-back will remain at the New Bucks Head until December 31. Chilvers joined the club in September on a short-term loan to help cover a defensive injury and suspension crisis.
That deal was extended for a further month in early October and discussions began last week about a further extension.
The club is still short in the centre-back position with Michael Briscoe and Chris Blackburn (both back) still sidelined with injuries. Sinton said securing Chilvers' services for the rest of the year would help provide important cover in the problematic position.
He said: "All being well we have got Liam until December 31. It's good because it solves a problem and it gives us a bit of stability."
Meanwhile, injured midfielder Richard Davies says he is making good progress in his recovery from a calf injury.
The 22-year old remains a doubt for tomorrow's Blue Square Bet Premier League clash at home to Ebbsfleet.
But he has been making steady improvement under the supervision of club physio Ruddy Farquharson and is confident he is nearing a return to match action.
Davies aggravated his calf muscle during the Bucks' FA Cup fourth qualifying round replay defeat at Nuneaton last month, which went to extra time, and he missed last weekend's trip to Alfreton as a result.
With Nathan Rooney also sidelined due to a foot injury, Telford have been light in midfield options in recent games.
"It's my calf. It has been tight the last couple of games," he said. "After the Nuneaton game, it was quite a long game so I felt it quite a bit the next day and it didn't ease off.
"I have been training with Ruddy and Mike doing a bit of rehab and it has been getting better so hopefully I will be back soon.
"I had had it for the last couple of games before Nuneaton but it got a bit sore throughout that game.
"But it is getting easier. Ruddy has been really good with me so hopefully I can push on and get fit."
