Chris Sharp ready to make first AFC Telford start
AFC Telford striker Chris Sharp believes he is now ready to make his first competitive start of the season.
And the Bucks star is targeting Tuesday's Blue Square Bet Premier League clash at home to Ebbsfleet.
Sharp missed the first 12 games of the season because of a hernia operation but has made steady progress since returning to the matchday squad last month.
Several promising substitute appearances since culminated in his first goal of the season last Saturday at Alfreton.
And having completed a further 70 minute run-out in the Bucks' midweek friendly defeat to the Stoke City development squad, he is confident he can now stake a claim for a starting place.
"Hopefully I'm ready to start,"he said. "The gaffer said on Saturday I was probably another game or so away so hopefully after the Stoke game I can be looking maybe to push for a starting place on Tuesday. That's probably the target.
"I'm getting no reaction to my injury. I feel really good so I'm just ready to kick on now and get more competitive minutes under my belt and see where we go from there."
Sharp added that getting his first goal – a 30-yard shot on the turn to equalise against Alfreton – had also given him an extra confidence boost.
"It's got to be one of my best just because of the level that it was at," he said.
"I have scored a couple of good goals when I was at TNS and Bangor previously but, to do it at such a good level, it's got to rank as one of my best.
"It was nice to get that one and get me off and running for the season."
