Andy Sinton is happy with AFC Telford United's break
AFC Telford boss Andy Sinton believes his team's extended break between competitive games has come at a good time – and he plans to make the most of it, starting with tonight's home friendly against Stoke City's youngsters.
The Bucks will be without a game this weekend following their elimination from the FA Cup last Tuesday.
But Sinton is aiming to use the break to maximum effect before they get back into the thick of the Blue Square Bet Premier League after a 10-day hiatus at home to Ebbsfleet a week today.
The former Wolves and England winger will watch his side take to the field against The Potters' Under-21 Development Squad tonight and he is aiming to give several players much-needed minutes. Among those likely to be involved is Saturday's goal hero Chris Sharp, who is continuing to step up his competitive game time following a hernia operation.
Striker Jake Reid, who is building up match fitness after recovering from a hamstring strain, is also likely to be involved as are defender Tom Roberts and goalkeeper Joe Collister, both of whom have yet to start a league game for the Bucks.
Sinton said: "The break has come at a good time. Tonight's game is an ideal chance for some players to get minutes.
"We arranged friendlies four or five times last year and we will do it as much as we possibly can this season. We will use Saturday to train, maybe a double session."
