Seedhouse was a club stalwart, also serving as first-team captain, president, umpire and assistant treasurer in a 60-year association with the Shropshire County Cricket League side.

Des Plain, a former Worfield CC chairman, president, treasurer and current committee member, said: “I’d known him for 60 years and he’d been connected with the club for around 60 years. He joined when he was 11 or 12.

“He was my assistant treasurer when I was treasurer.

“He did so many jobs, with no cost involved. He loved the club, he’s done everything here.”

Wayne Davies, secretary at the Premier Division outfit, added: “He lived and breathed the club. He was someone to look up to. He will be sadly missed.”

Mr Seedhouse has two children – son Ian, who is the club’s chairman, and daughter Claire. His wife Ann passed away in 1995.
