Kashif Ali Moon gets season off with a bang

Kashif Ali Moon clearly couldn't wait to get the new cricket season started – as he began it with a bang.

The Norton-in-Hales paceman bagged himself a six-wicket haul – all clean bowled without conceding a run – in just 17 deliveries.

Bowling straight and fast, Kashif turned Norton's opening North Staffs and South Cheshire League match of the summer on its head, dismissing Stone & Swynnerton for 58 to earn the villagers 25 points.

Norton had won the first toss of the season and decided to bat first, but were bowled out for 124 in the 36th over, with James Ruscoe (64) top-scoring.

Martyn Davies also hit 34 and Norton looked in decent nick at 199-6, only to lose their final four wickets for five runs.

Kashif's contribution at that point was just eight runs towards his side's total.

Stone & Swynnerton's reply reached 46-4 before Kashif was called upon and what followed was quite unbelievable as he blew the rest of the Stone team away.

It is not the first time Kashif has made headlines while playing for Norton.

Two summers ago, he rewrote the Division Three record books with an unbeaten 223 – to take the highest individual score in the division, as well as the largest eight-wicket partnership with Jack Warrington. His knock featured 13 fours and 27 sixes, as Norton in Hales thrashed Meakins Fenton.
