Castlefields in a second home whitewash
Castlefields stormed to a second successive home whitewash to go the top of the Summit Garage League Feeder B.
Their 10-0 maximum success against basement side Willenhall Nordley Libs B was a repeat of their previous home win against Kings Norton, the 168-99 aggregate victory seeing them eight points clear.
Secretary Graham Wall said: "We were pleased with that. We're just starting to find form on the green now.
"I would never say we expected to win because it's a tough league, but when our lads play well it's hard work for visiting teams."
Castlefields have to go to Nordley in their next fixture and Wall is warning of a possible backlash from the strugglers.
He said: "It's always a possibility because it's always difficult away from home, so it will be a challenge.
"We've still got some tricky fixtures so we have to get our heads down and keep our form going, but this one was pretty emphatic."
Keith Walton was Castlefields' best winner, to seven against Trevor Lunnon, while Nordley's best performer came against Wall to 17.
Hadley United Services went down 152-115 at Heath Hayes, losing 8-2 on points.
James Fletcher and captain Robert Burroughs were Hadley's only winners, to 14 against Fred Statham and to 12 versus Tony Statham.
Hadley are just three points and one place clear of Wrockwardine Wood, who crashed to a 165-113 aggregate defeat at Great Barr and 9-1 on points.
Wood's only victor on the night was Steve Downs, to 18 against Joseph Bown, while Paul Bradburne and Martin Williams lost to 17.
In the Premier League, St Georges captain Alan Palin was 10-7 up, 11-7 down and then 19-18 ahead.
But, ultimately, he was pipped at the post by Warwickshire & Worcestershire player Steve Darling in his side's clash with the George.
Palin said: "I was more gutted losing to 19 than when I got beat 21-0 the previous week. I should have beaten him."
But the skipper was relieved to see his team-mates bail him out as St Georges won 141-122 on aggregate and 7-3 on points.
Highley Miners Welfare are finding life hard in Division Two. Their 159-78 aggregate defeat at Langley, losing 7-1 on the night, left them second from bottom. Andrew James was Highley's only winner.
