The 16-year-old Park Wrekin Gymnastics Club member is one of 10 artistic gymnasts who will compete for Team England.

Kinsella, daughter of former Republic of Ireland footballer Mark, made the all-around final at the World Championships in Montreal in October but was forced to withdraw with an ankle injury.

She is one of six Games debutants in a squad that includes triple Commonwealth and double Olympic Champion Max Whitlock MBE and Claudia Fragapane, who will defend the four Commonwealth titles she won at Glasgow 2014.

The artistic gymnastics competition will take place at Coomera Indoor Sports Centre from April 5 to 9.

Team England’s gymnastics team leader Mike Weinstock said: “We had some really strong competition for places on the England team.

"The team we have selected has a really good balance between youth and experience. I’m really excited to see what we can achieve on the Gold Coast in April.”

There was disappointment, though, for Shifnal-based Andy Tennant, who has not been chosen in the cycling squad.
