Oliver Townend will ride into action with GB squad

Oliver Townend has been named in the Great Britain squad for next month’s International Federation for Equestrian Sports European Championships in Poland.

Townend, from Duddleston Heath, near Ellesmere, is one of six riders selected for the event, which takes place in Strzegom from August 17 to 20.

He will ride Angela Hislop’s Cooley SRS and is also a reserve with Karyn Shuter and Angela Hislop’s Ballaghmor Class.

A statement on his Facebook page read: “Oliver is very happy to have been selected for the European Championships with Angela Hislop’s Cooley SRS. He would like to thank all his team, sponsors, owners and UK Sport for their great support.”

Piggy French, Gemma Tattersall, Tina Cook, Nicola Wilson and Rosalind Canter make up the squad announced by the British Equestrian Federation.
