Shifnal CC hosted the event which coincided with the official opening the club's new ground which had been relayed over the course of 2014/15.

Under-11 teams from Market Drayton, St Georges, Whitchurch, Wellington, Worfield and a combined Shifnal/Bridgnorth side played in a round robin competition with all the teams securing a victory each during the day.

St Georges were eventual winners, with a strong batting display throughout helping them to victories in four out of their five matches.

Once the under-11s' event had been completed, SWAGCC officials presented the awards for the Under-13 Girls' hardball league.

Worfield were crowned champions after winning five out of their eight games with some impressive individual performances including Beth Charnell, who was awarded both the league batting and bowling awards.

She finished the season with a tally of 107 runs without being dismissed and a bowling average of just 3.4 runs per wicket.

The afternoon matches belonged to the ladies, with four teams competing in the Active Women's League semi and finals.

In the last four, a powerful batting display from Worfield saw them comfortably home against Whitchurch and set up what promised to be a great final with Shifnal, who had defeated Welllington after a disciplined and energetic fielding display.

Wellington then overcame Whitchurch in the third/fourth play-off.

In the grand final, Shifnal decided to bat first and got off to a flyer with the opening pair of Sophie Moreton and Becky Belcher scoring 20 off the first three overs.

However, tight bowling during the middle overs saw Worfield come back into the game and Shifnal finished with a net score of 246.

Nyah Edwards was the pick of the bowlers, taking 3-6. Worfield got off to a

similarly fluent start, with Lucy Arnold scoring 15 runs in a strong first pair showing with Harriet Rollason, but a similar theme to the first innings was seen as Shifnal's bowlers kept things tight. However, with Worfield not losing wickets, the task of keeping the runs down became harder for Shifnal.

With Millie Madden injecting some energy into the innings with a couple of excellent strikes, Worfield's final pair of Emma Hudson and Beth Charnell took the game away from the hosts, to finish on a net score of 264.
