Telford Tigers pair happy to share their net duties
Telford Tigers head coach Tom Watkins insists his netminding team is happy with the club's rotation policy, following a defensively sound start to the season.
Both Thomas Murdy and Sam Gospel have shared goaltending duties during the current EPL campaign, with neither player having the job on a full-time basis.
That policy has seen them post save averages of around 90 per cent – placing them amongst the league's top netminders.
And Watkins believes his rearguard team will continue to flourish as the season progresses.
He said: "It is always what we want, to have the guys sharing. We don't necessarily want an out and out No.1.
"For the Milton Keynes game at the weekend, we were still deciding quite late about who was playing.
"Both our netminders are great. Nobody is querying what we're doing and they're really supportive of each other."
Murdy arrived in Telford from Peterborough during the middle of last season and created an immediate impact, as Telford made a late charge for the play-offs.
Gospel, who also arrived earlier this year, is a product of the Nottingham Panthers junior system, having posted impressive statistics in the NIHL.
