Bucks sure there will be no Shaun Whalley
AFC Telford United manager Liam Watson today admitted the club would be priced out of a move to bring winger Shaun Whalley back to the New Bucks Head.
Last season's loan star played a key role in helping the Bucks to the Skrill Conference North title, before heading back to Football League new-boys Luton Town.
The 26-year-old became the only player to pick up two separate Conference championships medals in one season and has a long-standing affinity with Watson.
But the Telford boss reckons that will count for nothing, provided he becomes available again. Full-time clubs Grimsby Town, Lincoln City and Morecambe have all been linked.
Watson said: "Luton did us a favour last season, Shaun is on big money there and he's had a decent pay rise now they have been promoted. He just becomes out of the equation.
"What swung it last time was that their manager, John Still, is a mate and that Shaun wanted to come to Telford. I don't think they would let him get away with it this season.
"Clubs like us can't meet wages like that, teams like Grimsby can. Other full-time clubs like Lincoln and Morecambe were also interested, so it's best we move on without him."
