TNS await a title boost

The New Saints could be given a helping hand in their Welsh Premier title pursuit as their only realistic challengers Airbus UK face the prospect of being docked points.

The bombshell for the Wingmakers came this week after they were charged with fielding an ineligible player – former Newtown skipper Andy Jones – in the game against Port Talbot earlier in the month.

Should they be docked points over the player's registration, likely to be at least three, it would put the Saints, who are without a game tomorrow, in an even stronger position at the top of the table as they chase a record breaking eighth league crown.

As it stands, TNS are currently five points clear with 10 games remaining after last week's 1-1 draw with second placed Airbus. Although the Wingmakers do have a game in hand, the leaders could be firmly in the driving seat should their rivals be deducted points.
