Dale Rudrum led the way with a 21-10 success as Newport sounded a warning by seeing off the Dragons 12-2 to go second in the table, two points behind early leaders Castlefields.

Defending champions Fields also hit 12 against Bowring, Richard Goddard and Michael Beer taking the sweep with 21-3 wins, while Wrockwardine Wood are third after their 8-6 verdict against Chester Road.

Sir John Bayley were another side to win 12-2 when overcoming Wem USC, Norman Harvey (21-3) taking the coppers.
