St Georges are put to sword by Newport

Newport maintained their impressive start to the Furrows Shropshire Premier Bowls League after putting St Georges to the sword last night.

Dale Rudrum led the way with a 21-10 success as Newport sounded a warning by seeing off the Dragons 12-2 to go second in the table, two points behind early leaders Castlefields.

Defending champions Fields also hit 12 against Bowring, Richard Goddard and Michael Beer taking the sweep with 21-3 wins, while Wrockwardine Wood are third after their 8-6 verdict against Chester Road.

Sir John Bayley were another side to win 12-2 when overcoming Wem USC, Norman Harvey (21-3) taking the coppers.
