Wolves were reeling today as they faced the prospect of being left with just one senior fully-fit centre-back for Saturday's trip to Blackpool.
Christophe Berra, who missed Saturday's 3-2 defeat to Bolton after aggravating a knee injury in the warm-up, is set to pull out of the Scotland squad and Steven Mouyokolo suffered a knee injury on his first appearance in the Premier League for Wolves.
Jody Craddock was only due to start full training again today after a hip injury kept him out of the last five Premier League games, leaving Richard Stearman as the only fully-fit senior central defender.
Boss Mick McCarthy said: "Christophe has a sore knee.
"He came back in to have it looked at and after trying some sprints and kicking a ball he realised he wouldn't.
"To lose your first-choice centre-back half an hour before kick-off is far from ideal.
"He might have a chance for Saturday but we'll have to see how he is."
Berra had been due for a rare start for Scotland in their friendly against Norway on Wednesday at Aberdeen. But now he is set to withdraw from the squad.
"I don't think I'll be with the Scotland squad," he said. "I've had it for a couple of weeks it comes and goes, but it's nothing major so hopefully I'd like to think I'll be OK for Saturday.
