Wolves all set for Old Trafford
Wolves manager Mick McCarthy will challenge his team to prove they have come a long way in a year when they return to Old Trafford.
Wolves manager Mick McCarthy will challenge his team to prove they have come a long way in a year when they return to Old Trafford.
Barely a fortnight since a thrilling Carling Cup tie and 10 months after the infamous 'Old Trafford-gate' episode, Wolves are back for another tilt at the Premier League's most successful club in their own backyard tomorrow.
McCarthy's side return buoyed by their stand-out success of the campaign so far - the defeat of Manchester City - last weekend.
After the controversy raised by his nine changes in last season's league game, the smart money will be on McCarthy sending out the same starting line-up to cope with Sir Alex Ferguson's outfit.
Wolves haven't won at Old Trafford for 30 years and will not be expected to alter that sequence tomorrow.
But McCarthy is full of optimism after his team finally landed the result he believes their form deserved and is eager his men again show they are making advances.
He said: "I think we've a better squad and we're a better team - but that has to be backed up by results.
"It's a tough season for everyone. There is no Portsmouth facing financial trouble and the promoted teams have performed brilliantly."
