McCarthy tells van Damme to follow Milijas's lead

Wolves boss Mick McCarthy today hailed Nenad Milijas' transformation and told Jelle van Damme to follow his lead.

Milijas has shown arguably his best form in the last two Premier League games against Chelsea and Manchester City.

And McCarthy believes the £2.6m playmaker is matching his undoubted craft with graft after the penny finally dropped about the harsh reality of playing in the Premier League.

"When Terry Connor and I watched him, the way he's playing now is what I thought I was buying," said McCarthy.

"That's what I need to see every week. Just because players have come here as big signings doesn't mean they're going to play.

"He's earned his place because he's got himself fitter and I think he's grasped what it's all about. I don't think he did grasp how difficult it was going to be at first to get used to the tempo."
