Hadley survive a scare

"No wonder I've got grey hair" lamented Hadley USC skipper Phil King as he watched his side limp into a Furrows Shropshire Premier Bowls League pre play-off decider tomorrow.

King cut a shell-shocked figure in the immediate aftermath of a nervous nine chalk victory over Prees last night at Meole Brace.

It earned the Worthington Mid Shropshire League champions a showdown with Ludlow League winners Burway at Telepost No 2 for the right to face Childs Ercall on Friday.

But it was far too close for comfort against Market Drayton champs Prees, King admitting: "It was a helluva struggle.

"At the end of the day we won the game, but we will need to play better against Burway - and hopefully we will.

"But all we can do is take it one game at a time."
