Wolves are looking to add to the optimism by signing two new players today ahead of the transfer deadline - Norwich centre-half Jason Shackell and Preston left-back Matt Hill

Kightly said: "We've had a lot of performances where we've gone away from home and won 1-0 in the last two seasons, but this one looks the best performance because of the goals we scored and the way we scored them.

"This was maybe the best home performance I've been involved in.

"We're knocking it about well and we're very confident at the minute with the way we've been playing.

"We were knocked back a bit after Tuesday's performance because we were way below par and we were disappointed to go out.

"So to come back and play like we did on Saturday showed great character from the boys and long may that continue."

Kightly added: "It doesn't get much better than that - to get two goals and win in the way we did was brilliant and I'm buzzing.

"They were nice goals - the one hat hit the bar was probably struck better than the one that went in! But I was glad to get the brace."

Kightly revealed the new-found ruthlessness that is spreading through the camp.

"Last season and the year before we had a reputation of playing well at home but then maybe losing or drawing when we should have won and that becomes frustrating," he said.

"We want to kill teams off when we are playing that well. If there is a patch when we're not playing that well, then we'll dig in and win 1-0.

"But when we're playing well, we need to beat teams well.

"The gaffer wants us to get it wide because that's the way he wants us to play our football, with wingers, and we did that.

"And when we realised we were getting some joy, we carried on doing it instead of going the other way, and that's what we need to do."
