They will take on Warwickshire with the title of national champions at stake on the famous Waterloo green in the seaside resort on Sunday, September 21.

That's thanks to a 28 chalk victory over Coventry in yesterday's semi-final, the away side only losing by 18 on the notorious Coundon No 2 green where Lesley Winwood won 21-6 and Jane Archer 21-7.

At home, on Sir John Bayley's top green, Shropshire produced a clean sweep of the middle led by Doris Nuttall's 21-9 to secure a 46 shot success that led to scenes of delight all round the venue.

Elated Shropshire Ladies secretary Angela Gaut said: "It was a superb result - and we are really up there with the big guns now."

* Bowring's Josh Bradburn reached the semi-finals of the British Junior Merit at Heswall on Saturday - full story tomorrow - and Prince Hotel beat Bricklayers by 32 in the County Consolation Cup final at Meole Brace.
