"Freddy was always playing tomorrow," said McCarthy. "There was never any question about that and he will get an opportunity tomorrow. He was left out on Sunday for tactical reasons.

"I don't think he can play up front on his own. It's not something he enjoys and I thought that my best option on Sunday was Jay up front on his own. "And I always knew that I had options on the bench if I needed them."

Eastwood could replace Jay Bothroyd, who is an injury doubt after suffering a dead leg in Sunday's Black Country derby.

And, as Wolves return to a two-pronged attack, strike partner Andy Keogh could also earn a recall to the starting line-up in a revamped strike force to face the Us.

McCarthy's side seek to extend a four-match unbeaten run with only one goal conceded, and five unbeaten at Molineux as they look for a home booster with four home games out of the next six at Molineux.

"Andy is fit and he will be involved tomorrow night," confirmed McCarthy. "I have to look at the number of strikers we have got and the fact we're playing Wednesday, Saturday, Tuesday, Saturday."
