Farmer goes close again

Shropshire bowls champion Peter Farmer has suffered another near miss in a major tournament.

The Childs Ercall-based St Georges star lost in the semi-finals of the Champion of Champions in Blackpool.

Runner-up in the All England in 2005, Farmer lost 21-12 to eventual winner John Bailey of Wales on Saturday.

If Pontesbury beat District on Wednesday they will face Newport at Wem USC.
