Peoples’ Referendum call is nothing but a con job

It intrigues me that apparently 60 per cent of your survey respondents want a referendum on the Brexit deal.

This idea of a “peoples’ referendum” is nothing more than a “con-job” peddled by Remainers in order to overturn the 2016 decision by any means. It has nothing to do with letting ordinary people have their say.

Voracious Remainers have spent the last two years denouncing Leavers as ignorant, uneducated people, who did not know what they were voting for.

Now, apparently, those self-same people must have their say on what is a far more complex issue – the terms of our leaving.

Why?

Well the invidious stalwarts of the Remain camp have worked out that such a vote is likely to bring the result they want – rejection of the terms.

They realise that die-hard Remainers will vote NO whatever the terms offered, and that a slice of Leave supporters will also do the same – after all, who would want to give the EU £39 billion, who would want to suffer years in a transition period where we would be controlled by EU but have no say?

The tactics being used by the Remain camp are typical of those of the EU – prevaricate, refuse to discuss topics, demand that you must agree to one thing before they are prepared to move on to another, oh, and hold another referendum until your people are brow-beaten into surrender.

And, pray, what happens if this suggested referendum takes place and we do vote not to accept the deal – does that mean that Brexit is called off and we, like a whipped dog, beg to be allowed to remain, or does the Government have to carry on negotiating, or does it mean we simply leave without any agreement?
