A442 closure between Telford and Bridgnorth coming to an end
Roadworks that saw the main road between Telford and Bridgnorth closed for weeks were coming to an end today.
The A442 between Sutton Maddock and Bridgnorth has faced closures during the day since the roadworks began on February 27.
Drivers have been sent on a 14-mile diversion, adding approximately 10 to 15 minutes to their journey.
The first days of the closure were branded "a nightmare" by drivers and residents who live nearby.
Residents feared for their safety as cars sped down country lanes which are being used as diversion routes.
Bridgnorth's Mayor Vanessa Voysey had previously said she was concerned about the extra time it will take residents to get from Bridgnorth to Telford hospital.
Alice Dilly, Shropshire Council's principal traffic engineer, said: "The only outstanding item is to install two vehicle-activated signs, one at either end of the village, that will illuminate to act as a reminder to vehicles that are travelling in excess of the speed limit, and will activate at 35mph."
