September finishing date for delayed Telford roundabout works

A new completion date has been announced for roadworks at a major roundabout in Telford - which were delayed by utility companies.

The works on Limekiln Bank Roundabout in Priorslee have been causing havoc for motorists for months.

Telford & Wrekin Council says it hopes the work will be completed in September.

The work to widen the roundabout was due to be completed this month, but Telford & Wrekin Council said work has been delayed by utility companies not completing their parts of the work on time - meaning the roundabout could not be finished.

The work was temporarily suspended at the end of June but it is now hoped that the work will be finished as quickly as possible.

Telford & Wrekin Council says it has met and discussed the work with the utility companies and hopes it will be able to finish the work as quickly and efficiently as possible.

As much of the roundabout will be kept open as possible during the work and temporary lines will be painted to keep traffic flowing.

To make way for the lining work, four-way traffic lights will be put back in, but they will be overnight in a bid to minimise disruption.

The temporary lights will be in use for one night between 9pm tomorrow and 6am on Wednesday.

Councillor Angela McClements, Telford & Wrekin Council’s cabinet member for transport, said: “It is obviously regrettable that the work at Limekiln Bank has not been able to be completed as scheduled but this is due to factors beyond our control.
“We have now put in place a plan to enable traffic to flow as smoothly as possible during the summer until the utility companies concerned can complete their works.
“We hope the improved and enhanced roundabout will be fully open by the end of September.
"I would like to thank everyone affected by the works for their co-operation and understanding.”
