Overnight closures for repairs on A442 in Telford
A main road through Telford will be closed overnight for almost three weeks.
The Queensway A442 will close overnight from Monday for minor repairs and maintenance work. The closure is expected to last up to 19 days but Telford & Wrekin Council say it will not affect rush-hour travel on the road.
The work will include any necessary drainage works, patching of the roadway, repairs to signage, cutting back of vegetation and repairs to the barriers.
Russell Griffin, a spokesman for Telford & Wrekin Council, said: "We do this every year for wear and tear. It is such an important road in Telford it is in our interests, and everyone's interests, to ensure the A442 is in the best condition possible for use by motorists."
The A442 Brockton Way and Queensway, A4169 Queensway, A464 Naird Farm Road, A5 Telford Way, A5223 Whitchurch Drive, B4373 Mossey Green Way and A5223 Lawley Drive will all be included in the closures. The roads will close from 7pm until 7am.
Meanwhile, motorists face diversions as road resurfacing work will see part of the A5 near Oswestry closed overnight.
Highways England will begin resurfacing the road between Wolfshead Roundabout and Queens Head from Monday night, which is expected to last four nights. The road will close between 8pm to 6am, when motorists will be diverted.
Mark Round, spokesman for Highways England, said the work will take place for four nights, weather permitting, and disruption would be kept to a minimum.
