Shropshire Star London rail petition reaches 1,300 signatures
More than 1,300 people have now signed a petition calling for a direct rail link between Shropshire and London.
The Shropshire Star launched a campaign calling for the link to the capital and the petition has already seen an overwhelming response.
It will be presented to officials at Westminster by county MPs.

Virgin Trains wants to create the direct service, with stops at Telford, Wellington and Shrewsbury.
But the plans were blocked by Network Rail and the Office of Rail Regulation over concerns that the West Coast Main Line cannot yet cope with extra services.
MPs will talk to bosses at the Office of Rail Regulation next month in an attempt to find a solution.
