Domino’s Pizza is launching what it claims is the UK’s first Tinder chatbot for Valentine’s Day, which will provide cheesy chat-up lines to users.

Named Dom Juan, the chatbot will appear as a normal profile on the popular dating app, however once matched with users it will send them one-liners to help find them a real-life date on the platform.

Chatbots are pieces of artificial intelligence programming that are able to read and understand messages and respond to them in context.

Facebook Messenger is already a prominent user of them, with businesses such as media companies and delivery services using them to enable customers to ask direct questions, track orders and see customised news.

In this instance however, there’s a much more light-hearted approach.

The one-liners in the Domino’s chatbot will also be suitably cheesy, the pizza firm confirmed, with “I pepper-only have eyes for you” and “you’ve stolen a pizza my heart” among the lines on offer.

Valentine’s Day is expected to be one of the pizza company’s busiest days of the year, with Domino’s predicting more than 3.1 million pizza slices being eaten through the day, and just over 1,000 pizzas a minute ordered during the dinner date rush.

That rush is expected to occur at around 7pm, the company is predicting, just in case you were planning an order of your own.
