Two candidates, one seat available.

Angela McClements, Labour (incumbent)

Angela McClements

Angela is seeking re-election as your borough and town councillor. She grew up in Arleston and attended local schools.

Since being elected in 2007 Angela has worked hard on your behalf, holding regular weekly surgeries and ward walks and has taken up numerous issues on behalf of residents.

She is currently chair of Arleston Residents Group and the successful Arleston Memories Group which she started nine years ago.

Angela is proud of her Arleston roots and believes in community pride and runs the Annual Gardening competition and Citizen of the Year Award. She has pushed for improved roads and pavements across Arleston and will continue to secure more road improvements.

To save Arleston Community Centre from closure in 2016, Angela was instrumental in setting up a Trustees Group made up of residents and volunteers ensuring that our community centre remains open for many local community groups, activities and celebrations.

Angela succeeded in keeping the much-needed local bus service in Arleston. She has also been a driving force in the campaign against the downgrade of our hospital and is also acutely aware of residents concerns regarding access to the local GP Practice and has been pushing for a better service for patients.

If elected, Angela will continue to work hard on your behalf.

Dorothy Roberts, Conservative

I have lived in Wellington for 55 Years, I’ve raised my family here, my children went to school in Arleston and I know what a vibrant community we have.

However, we can do better. Our town is in need of significant regeneration, and I welcome the planned investment in our high street, but this needs to go further.

That is why my priorities are as follows:

1. Ensuring that there are more services for our young people, to keep them off the street.

2. Fighting reckless development to preserve our identity.

3. Fighting any plans to introduce parking charges.

Together we can make our town an even better place to live.
