Telford & Wrekin Council election candidates revealed

The names of all candidates standing in Telford & Wrekin Council's election have been published.

A total of 129 candidates will stand for election to the 54 borough councillor positions, while hundreds more candidates are standing for seats on the borough’s 27 town and parish councils.

The election will take place on Thursday, May 2.

The council has been run by the Labour administration for the past four years, and 28 seats are required for a majority.

In the last local elections four years ago, 161 candidates stood for election to the council.

The authority's press office said: "More people than ever are already registered to vote in this year’s elections and postal ballots will be issued in mid April.

"However if you’re not registered to vote, you have until April 12 to ensure you’re able to take part in May’s elections."

People who are not registered to vote can do so at gov.uk/register-to-vote
