Carol Cooper took the reins of Broseley In Bloom in 2012, despite "not being an avid gardener".

The group was facing the axe until the former Broseley town councillor and district councillor took up the role of chair.

However, in a statement, Broseley in Bloom said they would like to pay a “heartfelt tribute” to their former colleague, following her recent death.

“Carol took on the role in 2012 when the group was in danger of disbanding. She wasn’t - by her own admission - an avid gardener but she brought a wealth of experience to the role, from her years as a town and district councillor and as Chair of Broseley Partnership,” the group said.

“Carol was highly skilled in the art of gentle persuasion, which proved invaluable during her years at the helm.

“She remained a volunteer until quite recently and as the picture shows was often to be found selling raffle tickets at our fundraising events.

“She will be remembered with affection and gratitude for her hard work and dedication, not just to Broseley in Bloom but to all the community activities she was involved with during her many years in Broseley.”
