Plans for development of the town centre are included in the draft local plan – which could go out to consultation later this month, if Telford & Wrekin Council's cabinet approves.

Telford & Wrekin Council's cabinet will be asked to approve a public consultation on its fresh local plan, which runs from 2020 to 2040.

The local plan is a document which sets out where housing and business developments can be built.

The draft includes sites across the entire of Telford and Wrekin for housing and employment developments.

In it the authority is setting out new sites for 8,820 new houses, and 134 hectares of new employment space.

The plan will actually include ambitions for 20,200 homes up until 2040 – but the council has stressed that sites for the remainder of housing, making up 55 per cent of the overall target, have already been approved, or are under construction.

If the cabinet approves the consultation then members of the public will be able to give their opinions on the draft plan from October 25, through to January 2024.

The draft proposals include a host of small sites, along with some larger developments – some of which are already agreed and in the process.
