Switch energy suppliers and help the council
A town council is urging people to check their household energy bills using its own price comparison and switching service.

Telford & Wrekin Council launched its website, Switch Telford, to help people save compare what they are spending and save money on energy bills.
Now, at a time when a new energy price cap is being introduced this month, the council say residents can still save hundreds of pounds.
Since it launched in 2017, about 500 households have used the service, with some saving up to £482.
Accredited with Ofgem and partnered with uSwitch, the council receives a commission for every switch made using the service, which is then used to support and sustain council services in the borough such as those for vulnerable old people and children.
With standard energy rates being capped nationally this month, the council is encouraging people to save more by comparing tariffs and switching suppliers.
Councillor Lee Carter, cabinet member for finance, commercial services and economic development said: "I know the New Year is a time when lots of us consider making some changes and this one is very simple.
Considerable
“Switch helps you make considerable savings of around £482 on annual energy bills. If you haven’t switched your supplier for a while, try it and see how much you could save.
“The energy price cap which comes into force this January ensures now a fair price for standard energy rates – however, this doesn’t mean people are on the cheapest deal available on the market.
“This is why we encourage our residents ensure they’re making more savings, by comparing rates and switching to a better deal using Switch.
“Approximately 500 households have switched their energy provider through Switch Telford since the launch of the website in spring 2017.
“In addition to saving money on energy bills, anyone who uses Switch will be helping the council to support the borough’s services for the most vulnerable.”
