Herbert Daniels, 59, died in the fire at the property he shared with his mother Beryl, 89, in Park Lane, Woodside, Telford, on October 26.

Neighbours then launched an online bid to raise £1,000 to help Mrs Daniels recover from the tragedy as all her belongings were also lost.

She was rescued by firefighters and was uninjured during the incident.

Park Lane resident Andy Simpson, who gave Mrs Daniels a quilt while she waited for an ambulance, said the Just Giving fund has hit the target and donors have raised £1,045.

Meanwhile relatives of the mother and son have set up a separate appeal on the website Gofundme for £4,100 towards the cost of Mr Daniels' funeral.

His niece Sarah Dunne, stated: "On the 26th October 2018 there was a tragic accident that involved my uncle. He was sadly involved in a significant house fire that caused the roof to collapse. They were able to rescue my nan but unfortunately my uncle didn't make it. He was only 59 and he meant a lot to our family and friends.

"As this has been so sudden we are unable to afford a funeral for him as he didn't have anything in place to cover the costs. We would like to honour his memory as he was such a caring and kind person that we all love dearly.

"As I am the only responsible family member that is able to deal with the funeral arrangements I will be in charge of the final expenses. I would like to thank everyone that has helped us and left tributes outside the bungalow as it means a lot and we are grateful for the support we have received."
