The lights will be turned on at 9pm each night at Telford's Southwater One building to show Telford & Wrekin Council's support for the Three Lions.

Telford & Wrekin Council leader Councillor Shaun Davies said: “We are completely behind England’s bid to land the ultimate prize in world football and I think it is a great idea to show our support by lighting up one of our landmark building in the colours of the George Cross.”

Gareth Southgate's England started their campaign with a last gasp 2-1 victory on Monday night against Tunisia thanks to a late header from skipper Harry Kane.

On Sunday they will face off against World Cup debutants Panama – who started with a 3-0 defeat against Belgium.
