Paul Rushton was found at his home in Farm Lodge Grove, Malinslee, on April 19, the inquest in Wellington was told.

Assistant coroner Heath Westerman said the 43-year-old was found lying on the floor next to his bed.

He said Mr Rushton’s body was in a bad state of decomposition and the cause of death could not be ascertained.

“As a result of the decomposition identification had to be confirmed by way of DNA,” Mr Westerman said.

He added that Mr Rushton had suffered with alcoholism, depression and epilepsy and was last seen looking unwell at a job centre in Telford on September 22 last year.

Mr Rushton was estranged from his family, the inquest was told.

Mr Westerman recorded an open conclusion.

The house where Mr Rushton lived has since been boarded up.

A neighbour, who did not wish to be named, said he hardly ever saw Mr Rushton.

He said: “I never knew if he was staying elsewhere. You never saw him.

“He was in a world of his own.”

Another neighbour said she had last seen him at the start of the year and believed children had found his body after breaking into the property.
