Police and the fire service descended on Pride HIll due to a false alarm

On Wednesday, at around 5pm, West Mercia Police and a fire engine were on Pride Hill outside health food store Holland & Barrett as crowds gathered.

However, Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) said the incident was a false alarm caused by an automatic fire alarm system.

A spokesperson for SFRS said the fire crew from Shrewsbury was investigating the cause.
